We had an amazing Saturday. The Lord saw fit to bring all four grandparents together for the first time. As it happened, it would also be the only time. We said goodbye to Papa Jones just this morning. ON Saturday, he was in good spirits and we enjoyed the beautiful fall weather at Glencairn Garden for a few hours. I will always treasure the pictures we got and this video. (they didn't know I was taping until I started talking...) He's on the far right.
I'm so thankful for the time we had to be with him, and that he was able to share in Shepard's life if only for a few months.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 18. I thank them for the heritage of commitment that they passed on to Jerod. Mr. Jones passed on a love of nature, music, antiques and a tenacious work ethic to my own sweet husband. I am forever endebted to him for the man that I married.
We love you, Papa Jones. And Lord, be with Rosalie and the boys and family in this time.
I am so sorry to hear that Papa Jones has died, but so HAPPY that you had the time Saturday.
ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandfather died when I was 8 weeks old. When I was four weeks old or so (before my grandfather knew he was sick), my dad INSISTED on some family and individual/group photos on a day when no one really wanted to. One of those photos is about the only photo of me and my grandfather -- if another one exists, I don't recall seeing it.
If Shepard is anything like I am, he'll be SO GLAD for this video and for any photos you got of them together -- on Saturday as on visits past.
Much love to you all.
Oh Shelley...this video is absolutely priceless. I am so glad you were able to capture these moments for Shepard before Papa left us. My babies are having a really tough time understanding it all, so please pray that I will say the right words to them. Love you!
