I'm one month old today! {by Shepard}

I went to the doctor today; and he said I'm thriving, I have good color, and big feet. (People keep talking about my feet...especially Mommy)
I am just a little over 10 pounds, 22 and 3/4 inches long, and my head is 15 inches all the way around. I'm growing like a weed! Though I think I'm cuter than a weed. Except dandelions. Those are nice-looking weeds.
I'm just about out of my smallest onesies now and have pretty much graduated to size one diapers. I like to see how many diapers I can fill each day. I really like to do the poops when Daddy is holding me. Even better if I can get him to change me and then do a re-fill.
What?
Oh, mom says I'm not supposed to talk about poop so much.
Alright.
Well, life is good. Please enjoy these videos. One is of me sucking my pacifier like IT'S MY JOB, and the other is me drifting off to sleep in my crib today.

Smile!

Well, he can't really smile yet...but we got a few pics at Mike's place before Shepard was done. Here's one of my favorites...

Jerod playing Flea Circus

So, at Mike's studio...Jerod found a way to entertain himself while I fed Shepard...
Mike had a game from the 60's called Flea Circus, and Jerod decided to see if the fleas could walk the tightrope. Please note the background music...

Now THAT was a field trip!

On Friday, we decided to take a big field trip...we were pretty house-bound and were ready to bust out of Rock Hill. Also, our friend Mike is a photographer and has a studio near Greenville, SC. And finally, and most importantly, Shepard needed to meet his Papa Jones, who has been in the hospital since before he was born. So--we planned ahead and made a day of it.
I was shocked by the sheer amount of STUFF we had to think about taking! But, we seemed to get everything we needed, and Shepard traveled like a pro. We won't make a habit of dragging a newborn all over creation, but there were extenuating circumstances.

Here's a teaser from Shepard's photo shoot. He wasn't 100% on board with the whole picture-taking thing. As a matter of fact, we got very few shots overall. I guess taking off all his clothes and putting him down on various surfaces just wasn't his idea of fun. His idea of fun seems to be tinkling on Daddy at any given moment!

So, we'll try again sometime. We'd at least like to get a picture of the three of us, and I want to get some of his sweet feet.  ;) He seemed most inclined to liking this fluffy white rug.

Papa Jones was in a physical rehab facility on Friday, so we were able to stop by. (He has since re-entered the hospital, so please pray that he gets better!)
Here are three generations of Jones boys.
Grandma Jones was thrilled to be able to hang out with Shepard again, and even got to feed him.
We topped it all off with a trip to Anita's Mexican Restaurant, and that all made for a VERY long but good day. We were happy to follow it up with a lazy Saturday around the house. Well, I was happy to...Jerod gets antsy and wants to have projects and errands. Bless his heart. It's too hot to do much of anything except soak in our air-conditioning. I have been watching enough home design shows to have earned a certificate in home design shows. Never thought I could overdose on those, but it's happened. So, I hit the computer and designed Shepard's birth announcement...coming soon to a home near YOU!

More Shepard.

Shepard has a kodak gallery online...
Just in case you want MORE PICTURES of the boy wonder.  :)
He doesn't really have any new tricks this week. He does LOVE his bathtime now, which is great. I was a little worried after that first bath. Here's a pic from his last bath. The bathtub is PINK, thank you very much. It was also FREE (thank you, Baldwins). I figured he doesn't know the difference, and we won't be using it forever.

Little things

Sometimes it's the small ordinary moments that are worth capturing...

The Grandparents!

Shepard is blessed with some pretty terrific grandparents. For the Gileses, it's the first grandkid. I'm pretty sure they are smitten. Nana Giles was able to be in the delivery room and cut the cord. (ick!) Grandma Jones is already a pro and was able to come visit last week.

Shepard has already spent some quality time with almost all the grandparents. Papa Jones has been in the hospital, so they haven't met just yet. We pray that he continues to recover.

We sure do love our grandparents!
