Jones Look-alike Meter
Perhaps unscientific, but I like the results. :) I see mostly Jones in Shepard, except I think he has my chin. Thanks for the link, Aunt Jessica!

Christmas shots
I still haven't been able to upload all of the holiday pictures as yet, but I have a few. Somehow, Jerod and I managed to make it through the holiday week without getting a SINGLE SHOT of us together or with the baby. I'm going to have to hand off my camera more so that doesn't happen again. Granted, for a lot of the week, Jerod was barfing or in bed...so...noted and we're moving on.
Here's the three of us at our small group party:

Christmas Videos from Georgia
Before the stomach bug hit the ATL, we captured a few moments on video.
Here's Shepard with the organ I had as a kid:
And here he is discovering a stocking-full of goodies...and by discovering, I mean "trying to eat."
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Videos! Finally!
We were able to get some Christmas videos of Shepard. Of course, he's not really into OPENING the gifts just yet, but I still think he was having fun in the hub-bub of it all. These are all from Grandma Jones' house and feature Jerod's brothers and families.
Here he is on Christmas Eve morning, bedecked in Rudolph gear:
Matt and Justin wanted to perform some Rock Band for us, while the poor kids had to wait and stare at the MOUND OF GIFTS.
And here he is opening a gift from the MOUND of gifts from Uncle Carly and Aunt Debbie:
Fun with tissue paper:
More to come!

Six Months...already!?!
So...here we are at MONTH SIX. Amazing.
Shepard is rolling both ways, trying to nibble on his feet, and laughing a lot. He reaches for everything in sight, and usually gets it if it's in reach. He sits up with some help, but usually topples a bit when he reaches for stuff. He loves bathtime, but not really the getting-dressed part. Overall, he's smiley and happy. He's eating everything we feed him...rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, prunes, apples, pears, corn, peas, green beans, etc. He is fascinated by his reflection in the mirror and smiles at the baby he sees (who wouldn't? that's a cute baby!). He reaches for the fish in the aquarium. He is friendly towards pretty much everybody. He sleeps most nights through with maybe one wake-up. He is really enjoying toys with textures and the "crinkly" noise parts. No teeth yet, but the drool lets us know that we should be meeting his pearly whites shortly.
The doctor calls him "spirited," as he is full of kicks and wiggles while being examined...and smiles.
Baby by the numbers:
He is 28.5" long and in the 96th percentile
He weighs 17 lbs. 5.4 oz. and is in the 49th percentile
His head is about 43 cm and in the 27th percentile
Thank you, Lord, for our sweet and healthy little guy.

Merry Happy New Year 6 month old at Christmas!
So, based on the title of today's post, we'll assume that Mommy is a wee bit behind in posting. Technically, Mommy's other baby, the iMac computer, had a hard drive failure and had to go to the genius bar to get some new innards. So, you are welcome to check back later this week for some fabulous little videos of Shepard opening his gifts and enjoying the holiday festivities. I do have some Christmas pics to post today, though! We took these a few days before Christmas at home.

On Dec. 27, Mommy and Shepard travelled to Newnan, GA, to visit Nana and Grandpa Giles. We had at least one wonderful day, then the evil Bah Hum(stomach)bug! attacked the grandparents. As we tried to ply them with gatorade and chicken soup, Baby and Mommy were at least still well. Sadly, we had too short a visit and headed back on Thursday the 30th. Fortunately, Shepard is a pretty good traveller and we made it back to Rock Hill just in time for Mommy and Daddy to say hello and get ready for a date night to celebrate their sixth anniversary. What a nice night we had together at Bonterra and Amelie's. Thoroughly French! Thankfully, the rest of break was pretty uneventful, as we finished out 2010 with dinner with friends and some fire pit time and Sunday church.
Surely, I am blessed beyond what I deserve. We have everything in the world we could want, a healthy baby, two jobs, working cars, a warm house, etc. So, we didn't have an idyllic first Christmas with the baby...he doesn't know the difference. And next year, we will watch him really tear into some gift wrap and count our blessings all over again...and pray hard that the stomach thing does not return.
Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what 2011 brings to us. Probably some crawling, walking and talking...and finger foods!
